This class is a step-by-step with one of Ruth Hanson’s compositions.
Watercolor Batik is multi-layering of melted wax and watercolor on rice paper. The technique begins with alternating layers and working from light to dark, until the entire surface is covered with wax. The next step involves crinkling the rice paper into a ball to crack the wax and then flattening it again. The last step is a final dark layer of watercolor to seep through the cracks. After ironing the wax out, the final image with reveal itself! Watercolor Batik is always an adventure!
